2025 S2S Predictability Workshop
Advancing Understanding of Land-Atmosphere Interactions and Processes on S2S Predictability
Registration is open
We invite you to attend the upcoming workshop Advancing Understanding of Land-Atmosphere Interactions and Processes on S2S Predictability from June 16-18 at NSF NCAR in Boulder, Colorado.
Registration is open through 5 p.m. MDT on Wednesday, May 28.
Present your research
As part of registration, you are invited to submit an abstract to present your research at our workshop as a poster or oral presentation. Presentations that identify and describe opportunities for synergistic multi-agency (domestic and international) S2S system development are of particular relevance. Please note there are very limited openings for oral presentations.
Please submit your registration with abstract submissions no later than 5 p.m. MDT on Wednesday, April 23.
Please visit the registration form for detailed instructions on registering and submitting abstracts. We’re looking forward to your participation in our workshop and seeing many of you in June. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at predictability@ucar.edu with any questions or concerns.
Our focus
This workshop is intended to be highly interactive and collaborative, focusing on the role of land-atmosphere interactions on predictability at subseasonal-to-seasonal (S2S) timescales (defined here as two weeks to three months) and identifying strategies to advance the state of the science. Expected workshop outcomes include:
- Identification of process-oriented and operational verification metrics to assess model performance that can be universally applied across S2S models.
- Development of experimental protocols for coordinated experiments designed to advance understanding of land-atmosphere processes and their role in predictability.
We invite you to participate and help shape this effort. In order to engage as broad of a community as possible, please share this announcement with your colleagues and communities that you think would be interested in this effort.
For more information or questions regarding this workshop, please reach out to us at predictability@ucar.edu.
